Can't stop your dog from scooting

The first problem that people usually associate with their pets' bottom dragging on the ground is worms, however this is not always the case!

Dogs have two tiny glands on the inside of the bottom called 'anal glands'. They are designed to express as a stool passes through to mark their individual scent, however can sometimes become blocked. When they fill up and aren't expressing properly by themselves, our pets will scoot their bottom on the grass, carpet etc, searching for relief. This is a good time to call us! We can express these glands for your pet, and if they have a recurring issue, surgery might be required to remove them. This is exactly what little 'Macca' has had done very recently. Macca is recovering tremendously and has a much more comfortable bottom now.
